Privacy Policy & Terms of Use
Effective: June 7, 2026
Privacy Policy
1. Who We Are
Fyndo is a lost-and-found platform operated by Fyndo Private Limited, Pune, India. We help people report, find, and safely return lost items. Contact: hello.fyndo@gmail.com.
2. What Data We Collect and Why
We collect personal data only for the specific purposes listed below. We do not sell, share, or trade your data with any third party, and we do not use it for advertising profiling.
When you report a lost or found item:
- Your name, email address, and WhatsApp number — to send you claim notifications and your item management link, and to share your contact with an approved claimant so you can arrange return of the item.
- Item details (category, location, description, date) — to display publicly so the owner can identify their item.
When you submit a claim:
- Your name, email address, and WhatsApp number — to notify you of the claim outcome, and to share with the item poster only if your claim is approved.
- Your description of the item and answers to ownership verification questions — to help the poster verify you are the rightful owner.
When you join our waitlist:
- Your email address, city, and user type — to notify you when Fyndo launches in your area.
We do not collect Aadhaar numbers, PAN cards, bank details, or any government-issued ID.
3. How Item and Claimant Data Is Handled
- Item listing details (title, category, location, description, date) are publicly visible on Fyndo to help owners locate their belongings.
- Your contact details (email, WhatsApp) are kept private and never shown publicly. They are shared only with the other party when a claim is approved and both parties have agreed to connect.
- Claim descriptions and verification answers are visible only to the item poster — not publicly displayed.
- Active item listings are archived after 60 days if unclaimed. Archived items are no longer publicly visible.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database provider. We apply industry-standard access controls and encryption practices. Only authorised Fyndo systems can access private contact details — they are never exposed in public queries.
5. How Long We Keep Your Data
- Item and claim data: retained for as long as needed to resolve the claim, then archived. We will erase your data on request.
- Waitlist data: retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
- You can request deletion at any time by emailing hello.fyndo@gmail.com.
6. Analytics
We use PostHog, a product analytics tool, to understand how people use Fyndo. PostHog records page visits, button clicks, and session replays (recordings of how users interact with the page). This helps us identify and fix problems. PostHog does not receive your name, email, or WhatsApp number. You can opt out of analytics tracking by emailing hello.fyndo@gmail.com.
7. Cookies
We use cookies for essential site functionality and for the PostHog analytics described above. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Terms of Use
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using Fyndo's website or app, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Fyndo.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Fyndo. By using this platform, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement. If you use Fyndo on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
3. What Fyndo Is — and Is Not
Fyndo is an online intermediary platform under the Information Technology Act, 2000 that facilitates connections between people who have lost items and people who have found them. Fyndo:
- Does not take physical possession of any item
- Does not verify the true identity of any user beyond the in-app verification process
- Does not guarantee the accuracy of any item description or claim
- Does not act as an agent, representative, or guarantor of any party
- Is not a marketplace — no payments, transactions, or commercial exchanges are facilitated through Fyndo
4. Content Licence
By posting any content on Fyndo (including item descriptions, photos, and verification questions), you grant Fyndo a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the platform for the purpose of operating the lost-and-found service. You retain ownership of your content. You represent that you have the right to post the content and that it does not infringe any third-party rights.
5. Accuracy of Information
You agree that all information you provide — including item descriptions, contact details, and claim answers — is accurate, complete, and not misleading. Fyndo relies on user-provided information and cannot verify its accuracy. Providing false information is a breach of these Terms and may constitute fraud under applicable Indian law.
6. Prohibited Conduct
You must not use Fyndo to:
- Post, list, or facilitate the return of stolen, misappropriated, or illegally obtained items
- Make false or fraudulent claims of ownership over any item
- Demand or accept payment, a finder's fee, or any compensation as a condition of returning an item — doing so may constitute extortion under Indian law
- Harvest, scrape, or collect contact details of other users for any purpose other than facilitating the specific item return
- Post content that is defamatory, obscene, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, or in violation of any applicable law
- Impersonate any person, organisation, or Fyndo staff member
- Use Fyndo to locate, surveil, or make contact with any individual for purposes unrelated to a genuine lost-and-found exchange
- Attempt to circumvent Fyndo's verification process or exploit the platform for fraudulent purposes
- Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers on the platform without written permission
- Post content containing personal contact details (phone numbers, email addresses, home addresses) in public item descriptions
Violation of these rules may result in immediate suspension or permanent removal from the platform, and may be reported to law enforcement where required.
7. Management Token Responsibility
When you post an item, you receive a unique management link containing a private token. This link gives access to manage your item listing, including approving or rejecting claims. You are solely responsible for keeping this link secure. Do not share it with anyone. Fyndo is not liable for any unauthorised actions taken by a third party who obtains your management link.
8. Third-Party Platforms
When a claim is approved, Fyndo facilitates the sharing of contact details so that the two parties can connect via WhatsApp or other means. All communication and physical exchanges that take place outside Fyndo — including on WhatsApp, in person, or via any other channel — are entirely outside Fyndo's control. Fyndo bears no responsibility for any interaction, communication, dispute, harm, or loss that occurs after contact details are exchanged. You use these third-party channels at your own risk.
9. Physical Meetups and Personal Safety
Any physical meeting arranged to exchange an item is entirely the responsibility of the parties involved. Fyndo strongly recommends following the Safety Guidelines published at fyndoapp.com/safety. Fyndo is not liable for any injury, theft, assault, or harm of any kind that occurs during or as a result of a meetup arranged through the platform. By arranging a meetup, you accept full personal responsibility for your own safety.
10. Disputes Between Users
Fyndo is not an arbitrator of disputes between users. If two or more parties claim ownership of the same item, Fyndo may — at its sole discretion — suspend the listing pending resolution, but has no obligation to investigate, adjudicate, or resolve the dispute. Fyndo's claim approval process is a facilitation tool only and does not constitute a legal determination of ownership.
11. Platform Availability
Fyndo does not guarantee uninterrupted access to the platform. We may suspend, modify, or discontinue the service at any time without notice. Fyndo is not liable for any loss resulting from platform downtime, email delivery failures, notification delays, or data unavailability.
12. No Guarantee
Fyndo does not guarantee that any lost item will be found, returned, or reunited with its owner. Outcomes depend entirely on the actions of community members. Fyndo makes no warranty, express or implied, as to the fitness of the platform for any particular purpose.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, Fyndo Private Limited, its directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the platform. This includes but is not limited to: items not being returned, financial loss, disputes between users, physical harm during meetups, data breaches caused by user negligence, or misuse of contact details shared through the platform. Fyndo's total liability in any matter shall not exceed INR 1,000.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Fyndo Private Limited and its directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from: your use of the platform, your violation of these Terms, any content you post, any false or misleading information you provide, or any dispute between you and another user.
15. Account Suspension and Termination
Fyndo reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or permanently remove any user or listing from the platform at any time, with or without notice, for any reason including but not limited to violation of these Terms, suspected fraud, abusive behaviour, or actions that may harm the platform or other users. Fyndo is not obligated to provide reasons for such decisions.
16. Law Enforcement Cooperation
Fyndo will cooperate with law enforcement agencies and comply with valid legal orders, subpoenas, or court directions to disclose user information. In cases of suspected criminal activity — including theft, fraud, extortion, or trafficking in stolen goods — Fyndo may proactively report such activity to the appropriate authorities without prior notice to the user concerned.
17. Intellectual Property
All platform content, including the Fyndo name, logo, design, and software, is owned by Fyndo Private Limited and protected under Indian intellectual property law. You may not reproduce, distribute, scrape, or use any part of the platform without written permission. Automated access to the platform without prior written consent is strictly prohibited.
18. Partner Venue Obligations
- Partner venues must accurately log and describe items received — false or misleading entries may result in removal from the Fyndo partner network.
- Partner venues must not open, tamper with, or misappropriate any item in their custody.
- Fyndo is not liable for items damaged, lost, or stolen while stored at a partner venue.
- Unclaimed items after 60 days may be handled at the venue's discretion in accordance with applicable local laws.
19. Force Majeure
Fyndo shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to internet outages, third-party service failures, natural disasters, government actions, or civil unrest.
20. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of Fyndo after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
21. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed exclusively by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of Fyndo shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Pune, Maharashtra, India. By using Fyndo, you waive any objection to this jurisdiction.
22. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be severed from the remaining Terms, which shall continue in full force and effect.
23. Entire Agreement
These Terms of Use, together with Fyndo's Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Fyndo Private Limited with respect to your use of the platform. They supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
